THE LITTLETON POLICE BIKE PATROL UNIT

Bicycles have been around for a long time and we all have ridden them for exercise and fun, but it was not until the late 1980's and early 1990's that Police Department's really started to use bicycles for police patrol. There were a few Police Department's in the larger cities that started to use bicycles for daily patrol. They had proven themselves as a valuable asset. This idea caught on quickly and spread throughout the country like wild fire. Thus the Littleton Police Department Bike Patrol Unit was born.

The town embraced this idea and soon the Littleton Police Department started regular patrols with the bike patrol unit. The downtown area of Littleton as well as all of the narrow side streets and alley ways are just a few examples of why the bike patrol unit is a perfect way to patrol. It allows the officer to navigate within the compact area of the town with ease as well as being able to assist the citizens on a more personal level.

Officers go through a rigorous training course to become certified as a Bike Patrol Officer, but all the training pays off because Bike Patrol is one of the most sought after duties within the Police Department.
