2009 HALLOWEEN FESTIVAL

It is with great pleasure to announce that the 3rd Annual Halloween Festival held on Saturday, October 24, 2009 was a huge success!

There were approximately 200 – 300 people in attendance throughout the day and we received approximately 100 entries into the pumpkin carving contest. They were divided into three age groups: Grades K-1, 2-3 and 4-6 and prizes were awarded to the “Funniest,” “Scariest” & “Most Original” in each group.

The winners for each age group were:

Grades K – 1 – Jason Hamilton - “Scariest”, Michael Hampson – “Most Original” and Julianna Taveras – “Funniest”

Grades 2 – 3 – Kaleb LePage – “Scariest”, Val Kilby – “Most Original” and Jillian Allaire – “Funniest”

Grades 4 – 6 – Tesha Coy – “Scariest”, Hunter Desilets – “Most Original” and Joshua Dimick – “Funniest”

In addition to the pumpkin carving contest, there were also games, jumping houses and a magic show about Halloween Safety (performed by Mr. Phil & Co.) to keep the children entertained until prizes were awarded. With the assistance of high school students,  we were able to provide face painting and McGruff made a special appearance.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the area businesses and residents for the contributions they made that helped make this event such a success; specifically, Porfido’s, Home Depot, Merrill’s Agway and Bill Ellithorpe for donating pumpkins, the women’s auxiliary of the VFW, American Legion and Eagles organizations sponsored the magic show, Abbott’s Party Store for donating the jumping houses, Dunkin Donuts for providing munchkins, Shaw’s and Wal*Mart for donating a gift card, and Village Book Store, Applebee’s, Ninety-Nine and Jax Jr. Cinemas for donating prizes.

Over 100 hours of time was volunteered in order to make this event possible! We would like to thank the members of the Volunteers in Police Services as well as students from the high school and middle school that assisted the members of the Littleton Police Department with the organization and execution of the event. The success of this event is due largely to the time, effort and hard work you contributed and we appreciate it.
