2008 HALLOWEEN FESTIVAL It is with great pleasure to announce that the 2nd Annual Halloween Festival held on Saturday, October 25, 2008 was a huge success! There were approximately 150 – 200 people in attendance throughout the day and we received approximately 83 entries into the pumpkin carving contest. They were divided into three age groups: Grades K-1, 2-3 and 4-6 and prizes were awarded to the “Funniest,” “Scariest” & “Most Original” in each group. The winners for each age group were: Grades K – 1 – Seth Boulanger - “Scariest”, Jillian Allaire – “Most Original” and Sage Littletfield – “Funniest” Grades 2 – 3 – Kaleb LePage – “Scariest”, Sadie Bushway – “Most Original” and Victoria Thompson – “Funniest” Grades 4 – 6 – Alex Cusano – “Scariest”, Alyssa Arce – “Most Original” and Gwen Hitchcock – “Funniest” In addition to the pumpkin carving contest, there were also games, jumping houses and a magic show about Halloween Safety (performed by Mr. Phil & Co.) to keep the children entertained until prizes were awarded. Amy Nixon, with the assistance of a high school student, provided face painting and McGruff made a special appearance. Members of the local Littleton Boy Scouts troop were also in attendance passing out Fingerprint/DNA kits that were provided by the Littleton Police Department. Approximately 75 kits were given out. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the area businesses and residents for the contributions they made that helped make this event such a success; specifically, Porfido’s, Home Depot, Merrill’s Agway and the Grafton County House of Corrections for donating pumpkins, the women’s auxiliary of the VFW, American Legion and Eagles organizations sponsored the magic show, Abbott’s Party Store for donating the jumping houses, Dunkin Donuts for providing munchkins, Shaw’s for donating a gift card, and Village Book Store, Applebee’s and Jax Jr. Cinemas for donating prizes. Over 100 hours of time was volunteered in order to make this event possible! We would like to thank the members of the Volunteers in Police Services (37 hrs) as well as students from the high school and middle school (50 hrs) that assisted the members of the Littleton Police Department (26 hrs) with the organization and execution of the event. The success of this event is due largely to the time, effort and hard work you contributed and we appreciate it.
